Stock management involves much more than just having the articles you need on hand. Efficiency and cost awareness in stock management also mean optimising order quantities and ordering times.

In addition, it includes optimising the size and location of your stocks. As far as the latter is concerned, stocks can either be ‘central’ or ‘decentral’.

‘Central’ stock is accessed by several different consumers simultaneously. Depending on aspects such as the size of the location and consumption, you can either set up one central stock or one localised stock for each department.

A ‘decentral’ stock is a stock of articles that is normally intended for one single assembly unit. The fasteners are delivered directly to the place where they are to be used. A certain degree of predictability and a substantial volume and frequency of consumption form the basis for an effective decentral stock. If these conditions cannot be met, a central stock is the advisable option.
